Pecan named Crop of the Month Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tommy Irvin has named the pecan, "Crop of the Month" for November. The pecan is being recognized for its nutritional value, its versatility in the kitchen and for the success in marketing the nut in the U.S. and world markets. Joining Irvin at the designation ceremony were: Agriculture Deputy Commissioner Terry Coleman; Administrative Assistant Leah Tatum-Dick representing State Senator John Bulloch; State Rep. Gene Maddox; Hilton R. Segler, president, Georgia Pecan Growers Association; Irvin and State Rep. Tony Sellier.
